Heard some important information on Twitter today, and thought I’d post it here for anyone who may not have heard it. This is actually a thing, devised by human rights organisation called Karma Nirvana.

Reblog to save a life?

Reblog to save a life.

Sharing because it’s actually a verified and sourced thing and not one of those dumbass fake tip posts.

This is my tribe. Many of us in our home countries live off selling handmade goods, especially the mochilas. Weaving is an important Wayuรบ tradition. Every pattern and assortment of colors tells a unique story, and itโ€™s important to our cultural identity. And right now with the crises in Venezuela and Colombia, a lot of us are struggling financially. Please always purchase directly from indigenous communities!

[op id/ lqg fans @flatwoods posted: with encanto now on Disney+ many people might want a bag like Mirabelโ€™s so instead of buying from companies that Mass produce, buy mochilas from the wayuu who make these types of bags by hand! (The prices are in Colombian pesos) /end id]

Letโ€™s repeat that number: 94% of the people who murdered their families since 2020 were men. A gun was used 86% of the time. This is why men are so firmly anti-gun control, because they want to terrorize and kill their families with ease. These stories are not divorced from the wider epidemic of gun violence just because theyโ€™re in the homeโ€“the personal is political. Domestic violence is gun violenceโ€™s best friend.

And this is why violent men are hoping the far-right Supreme Court decides that domestic abusers have a โ€œrightโ€ to firearms. (And this is also why, ladies, if youโ€™re dating a guy who isnโ€™t anti-gun: run.)
